The Journey Through Your Eyes

Chapter 1 Our eyes were like the blinding sun and the shimmering moon. He was the rising the sun and I was the moonlight in the darkness. Or perhaps I was the darkness until our eyes met and my whole world reversed. The darkness within me began to disappear, the hell burning inside me turned to ashes, the demons crawling inside me vanished into thin air because the hell within me began to shine like the stars and the demons became the angels I always wanted to be. It was a thunder between us; electricity began to spark, recharging the current that flows through my body. Our whole world collided as the sun began to disappear, its glow began to fade and a thunder appeared …. It was him. Numb I was in the middle of a field, my clothes drenched in rain, the dark clouds unveiling curtains of rain which pelted down from the sky, blurring my sight with translucent torrent. The fluent wind hauling furiously as my parched lips are now impossibly wet. He changed me. He made me someone it ...

The Key To My Heart

Chapter 9 (Last Chapter) This was all real. I was Evan. I got into an accident… and… dad changed my name so I won’t remember who I was and who I used to love… he took me to Connecticut where I studied and grew up to be Jonathan instead of Evan. I wake up. The old man sitting peacefully, meditating and smiling. I touch my neck and feel the key. Did she really die? Numb, I walk up to the tree, I hug the tree. So tightly that my shirt started to shred to pieces. I shout so loud that the birds from the tree fly away. I notice a heart shape carved deeply underneath my chin on to the tree. I grab my locket and plug in the key. ‘Linda, I’m sorry I couldn’t unlock the key to your heart …sooner.’ I just stand there and then…I start to walk away back to my car. I had false hope. Stupid Golden tree. It’s a lie. It always was. That’s when the tree starts to shine so bright, blinding my eyes. The old man taps me on the back, wishes me good luck and walks away. ‘Hey, old man! Wait. What’...

The Key To My Heart

Chapter 8 In a blink of an eye. I see Linda again. She is on her wheelchair. Her blond hair swinging with the wind. Her hands rubbing the locket on her neck. Tears flowing repeatedly. A pink shawl wrapped around her shoulders and … I see the miracle happen. She started playing the violin, her eyes shut again and the trees bow, the birds fly out of their nests, the deer’s, gushing in the last gulp of water, the rabbits jumping out of their holes and at last, the lion at the back of her wheelchair, sat behind her and bowed. All of them looked like as they were in pain. The nature and Linda have a connection. Linda in pain means everyone in pain. The trees, the flowers, the insects and animals. It felt like the sun was moaning as if it lost all its sunshine, the moon appeared making me feel as if he lost someone so dear to him that even after searching the world, from seas to seas, he never found his loved one. The moon and the sun clashed into each other and her eyes opened. This… f...

The Key To My Heart

Chapter 7 The doctor leaves Evan numb and shocked. He falls down on his knees and cries for hours and hours. Regaining his courage, he stands up and walks into Linda’s room. ‘Hey’ ‘Hey’ Linda offers a smile and Evan smiles back ‘We have to talk Linda. I was just messing around with you. I and my friends planned on pranking you.’ ‘Ok…’ Linda lightly laughs while twiddling her fingers recklessly. ‘What do you mean?’ ‘All this I love you, you love me, we love the whole world nonsense   was fake. Everyone hates you and besides, why would I even like a girl who can’t walk anymore for the rest of her life. So let’s end it here. I laughed, my friends laughed. We are happy. No one cares about you. Who did? Your parents suffered because you came to this world with your stupid powers, they were kicked out of the village because of you. Everyone hated them because of you, why would anyone like you after what you did. You shouldn’t have come to this world. I never should have met...

The Key To My Heart

Chapter 6 I hear a faint sound of someone blaring. I walk towards where the sound is coming from and I witness Linda on the ground, whining in pain while groping both of her legs. Oh my god. I run to her and try to help her but its no use. I’m just a spirit; I can’t touch or feel her. Shit! Come on, Evan where are you! And just then Evan comes running from behind the bushes. ‘Oh my gosh, what’s wrong Linda, speak up Linda, I won’t know anything until and unless….’ Oh for god’s sake dumbass, she broke her leg. Hurry up. I interrupt in the middle of his stupid speech. He runs toward the village with unconscious Linda in his arms. I run after them. Evan only stops when he reaches the hospital. He lies her down on one of the stretcher’s. He calls for a nurse and they take her into the operation theatre instantly. Evan looks overwhelmed and he calls his parents to come to the hospital straightaway and he hangs up.   ‘Yes, of course, Evan asks his dad to pay the medical bil...

The Key To My Heart

Chapter 5 while she was playing her violin, all the trees bowed to her, not only the tree, the birds, the animals came out of the woods and did the same thing, even the lion. He came in front of Linda and bowed to her. The sunlight rays began to focus on her, the sky started turning pink and the moon started appearing although the sky was just a scattered handful of stars which looked magnificent. The stars were shinier then they ever were and they threw down its spears of light, brightening up the sky to the mixture of pink, yellow, black and boom! Everything disappeared, the sun was to where it was positioned, the trees, at a 90 degree angle, no animal was to be seen, not even the birds and her eyes were open. Yes, they were open, that’s why everything disappeared. She hasn’t witnessed that herself, nor does she know she is special. I was numb after I heard what happen. My memory is blurry but I’ve heard of this situation, no, I think I’ve been through this. My thoughts ...

The Key To My Heart

Chapter 4 ‘I’ll get married. Yes! Oh god, I should start preparing for my marriage, cook the food, the decorations, my dress, oh my there is so much to do.’ Suddenly she trips and falls down. ‘I forgot the most important thing. I have to find the man of my dreams first shouldn’t i? Oh god, who will marry a piece of trash like me?’ Linda murmurs as she stands up and brushes away the dust on her clothes. ‘I will’ a boy walked up to her. His hands crossed at the back of his hips. She stopped dead in her tracks. She turns around slowly and covers her hands on her face, closing her eyes. ‘Please don’t kill! Please! Ill give you my house, and my clothes, and my food and…’ the boy walks up to her laughing and taps on her head. ‘Hey, I’m here to be friends, not kill you’ Linda’s jaw drops and she stares at him as if he just slapped her. ‘My friend?’ ‘Yup, your friend.’ Linda screams as she just discovered a cockroach on her hand. And in the spur of the moment, she grabs the boy’s hand and...

The Key To My Heart

Chapter 3 Linda nurtured to a wonderful young girl. The parents could never been prouder of her. However one of these days, her parents passed away, when she was fourteen, leaving Linda in a very distressed situation. No friends. No family. She had no one. On her own, she had to face the world’s cruelties, their betrayal and harshness.  Alone, battle the agony, clash with contemplations, and struggle for rights. Sobbed hours at night before flickering her eyelids close. But then again for how long would she lock herself in her room and cry until her eyes became sore and were exhausted of shedding tears? Then she decided she had to unveil herself from the shadows she has been hiding for months and begin constructing her blissful wall to reality so that people won’t scamper away from her as if she is a banshee. Nonetheless, people still hated her but she never gave up hope. She started being the exultant and comical girl she used to be. Her clumsy and childish acts led to troubl...

The Key To My Heart

Chapter 2 ‘This is not any ordinary story about a girl chasing after a boy or that Romeo and Juliet tragedy. This is a lovely story based in a beautiful little town of Florida about a gorgeous young girl with long blond hair which swayed to rhythm of the violin she played, closing her eyes gently to the tender tone but when her eyes were exposed to the world, all you could see was mystery. Those purple eyes were so deep that once you look into them, you get lost in the hollowness and are unable to find your way out. The beautiful pink glossy lips, so tender that a petite wave of cold breeze would freeze her lips to ice. Her slim body was like a lamppost but so fragile that a warm touch would make her wail as if someone punched her. Her skin so white and her hands soft like ones caressing the clouds, so smooth and gentle. She was like that perfect girl every guy dreamt of but the most unique thing about her was the clumsiness. Her charm was the clumsy personality she had. You kn...

The Key To My Heart

Chapter 1 The sky above me is sparkling as the birds make their way through the summer winds into the muffled clouds. The crispy gold, tarnished leaves beneath me crunch as I take each step towards the ‘golden tree’. That’s what everyone calls it here. People say that the tree has been blessed upon with holy-powers by God. Hundreds of people travel from far-flung places to come pray, to the tree to help them with their problems. They say that if you honestly pray to the tree, it will grant any of your longings or elucidate any of your complications. My thoughts are interjected as my eyes spot a grave near the golden tree. A grave? That’s strange. I bend down and I brush my hand on the tombstone. The grave is neatly laid underneath the immense green trees, its leaves, gently swaying as the wind crashes on to my face, but there is this eerie feeling that happens to make me quiver and a fine chill travels down my spine. ‘Linda Maclenay. 1980-2001, is spelled neatly onto the tom...

Bittersweet Goodbyes

Chapter 7(Last chapter) 'Jack Miller, come forward.’ Judge Judy mandates. My dad walks up into that little balcony where I was standing. ‘Mr. Lowell, you may begin your inquisition.’   ‘Ok Mr. Jack. Been a long time isn’t it? So you’re accused of committing a murder and the court is in no denial that you have not committed this crime. We would like to straighten things out easily avoiding any unnecessary arguments. Please refrain from any violence or verbal abuse towards the defense party. You may begin to explain yourself for murdering Rain.’ ‘He took away my wife!’ ‘No, you divorced her. After your business was sky rocketing, you started ignoring your wife, your family and you weren’t home most of the time. Your daughter Emma told us a lot the lifestyle you lived. Most of the time you weren’t home. You were out with your clients. I mean that’s agreeable but staying out all night? What was all that?’ ‘I…   I was having an affair with one of my clients. Sh...

Bittersweet Goodbyes

Chapter 6 ‘Mom, Dad, I’m sorry I killed her. Rain was never meant to be mine. You know why? Because I wasn’t able to sacrifice myself for her. ’ ‘Rain so tell us, what actually happened.’ Edward asks me. ‘I’m sorry mom… I’m so sorry…’ ‘Emma you have got to keep control of yourself and let people know of your crime.’ Edward demands. ‘I… I was in my room when all of this started to happen. I was on my laptop finishing up my assignment when I heard this creaking noise from downstairs. Someone was coming up the stairs. I went to Rain’s room to see what she was doing, ignoring the sound. I thought it’s probably the windows due to the wind. We have this closet room type thing in Rain’s room so I went it there to get a blanket as Rain had fallen asleep on the floor while coloring. There was this man standing in the room holding Rain while I was looking for a blanket. He started talking.’ ‘Rain, Rain, Rain honey. Your dad took something I treasured a lot, now it’s my turn to tak...

Bittersweet Goobyes

Chapter 5 Two years later … My 25 th visit to the court now. Jack or my step dad isn’t giving up. I get up to go wash my face before I leave for court. I look at my hideous self in the mirror and I see an unattractive body with an offensive frame of mind, lanky and eerie fingers, a trivial stroke of contentment and a bottomless hole in mind or rather an abyss that I am drowning in with thoughts of Rain. A pale face with black dents under my eyes, a hefty and troubled forehead with eyes that portray sadness, guilt, regret and love. Concluding this horrible journey, I see death staring into my eyes. As if it just jumped into my soul and plucked it out of my body. ‘You deserve it Emma. You did this to here. You didn’t love her enough. You didn’t care enough- Stop… ‘You took her for granted. Her love was invisible to you. You should be invisible now shouldn’t you- Go away! You did this. It’s you who deserve this death not Rain-’ Stop it… Agghhh this voice in my head it’...

Bittersweet Goodbyes

Chapter 4 Dad steps up on the witness stand as Lowell is supposed to question him. ‘So Mr. Gray. You say you don’t drink? ‘No I don’t. Haven’t touched a bottle since my wife left me before I married Rena’ ‘So you do drink?’ ‘No-’  ‘But you did right?’ Mr. Lowell questions. ‘Yes ‘So someone you loved left you and you were drinking in a bar called Minisky?’ ‘Yes’ ‘So you remember the name too. Ok. You lost someone you cherished and you don’t expect Mrs. Rena to not drink after her father died?’ ‘It was Rena’s father but my case is different. Julie was my life partner. I loved her like no one else can.’ Said Gray. ‘If you loved her so much, why did you marry Mrs. Rena? Was her love able to be replaced that easily? Was she just a substitute for Julie? I thought loving someone meant you’d do anything for them and if you loved her so much, couldn’t you just cherish her from afar? Why did you marry Rena then?!’ Lowell yells at my dad. Dad is speechless.  ‘I presume yo...

Bittersweet Goodbyes

Chapter 3 A few months later. It’s been 8 months since Rain left my life. I should have been a better sister. I should have cherished her more. She was too precious. She still is. My step dad has now filed a case against us. I and my mom have been distraught over this situation. My own, I guess I can’t call him my own anymore. I loved him like a daughter loves her father. But at the end I received detestation, rage, and abhorrence from him. After all, Rain was his only daughter. He blames me and my mom for this tragic death. Apparently, according to his perceptions, I and my mom planned on killing her because she was my step sister. I wish he knew I love Rain more than myself. I wish I could save her. ‘Emma hurry up! We have to leave in five minutes for court.’ It’s our 10 th visit to the court now. I can’t sleep anymore. I can’t eat. I can’t do anything. Everything I do, everywhere I go. It reminds me of Rain. She left her pieces in everything around us and faded away. ...

Bittersweet Goodbyes

Chapter 2 I run back up to my room. This place, this horrific, strange place does not remind me of a home. It reminds me of a horror house. A horror house you see in every kid’s nightmare, in every neighborhood. It’s a forbidden house, an old and dilapidated building on the corner of a street with the paint wearing off, the bricks weakening as the sun dawns and sets, layers of dust coated to it and an abode for the crows fluttering and nesting by the window side, mostly just to scare off the people. Rains room, a barred area in our territory, a scarred room with walls stained with blood, caution tape covered all over her bed and a red cross on the floor were Rain was inhumanly killed. The detectives had a confused look on their faces as they analyzed the room and went through Rain’s things. The sounds of her screams are still piercing through my ears. Her quivering voice can still be heard, like a sacred verse, crying and yelling for help, for time to stop at once so that th...

Bittersweet Goodbyes.

Chapter 1 I remember the day you were born. It was around 11:30 in the morning when I got a call from the hospital. I was at home with my maid. She was a like friend to me. It was 2007, when you, Rain came to this world, into my life. My dad called saying, ‘It’s a girl Emma!’ I jumped from excitement and glee that had filled me wholly.   ‘See daddy, it’s because I’ve been a really good girl now that God gave me a sister!’ That was the best day of my life. Rain was like a beacon of light that came through my dark phase and helped me become a better person. The darkness within me began to burn away into ashes because that murky void began to glow like the sun. She made me happy. She helped me become someone who appreciated living. However all I could give her was death, horror and a traumatizing incident. An incident that will forever make me shed tears and guilt over something that I could have put an end to. I was so contented that I could cry. When Rain came home I...
