The Key To My Heart
Chapter 7
The doctor leaves Evan numb and shocked. He falls down on his knees and cries for hours and hours. Regaining his courage, he stands up and walks into Linda’s room.
‘Hey’
‘Hey’ Linda offers a smile and Evan smiles back
‘We have to talk Linda. I was just messing around with you. I and my friends planned on pranking you.’
‘Ok…’ Linda lightly laughs while twiddling her fingers recklessly. ‘What do you mean?’
‘All this I love you, you love me, we love the whole world nonsense was fake. Everyone hates you and besides, why would I even like a girl who can’t walk anymore for the rest of her life. So let’s end it here. I laughed, my friends laughed. We are happy. No one cares about you. Who did? Your parents suffered because you came to this world with your stupid powers, they were kicked out of the village because of you. Everyone hated them because of you, why would anyone like you after what you did. You shouldn’t have come to this world. I never should have met you. So long… Linda.’
‘You know how much you hurt me right? What if I did the same thing to you?! You have no rights to judge me; you don’t know what I’m going through. You fooled around with my dreams, you made me regain my faith that one day i will get married. But now, my dreams have just been shattered like tiny shards of glass which can not be glued back together again. I expanded my world for hope in my depressed, dark dimension but now, it’s filled with nothing but betrayal. Mom was right, expectations always hurt.’ Linda just stares at Evans back blankly, as tears trickle down her eyes, and she bleakly falls back on her pillow and turns towards the opposite side.
Linda was blank and tears began to roll down her eyes as soon as Evan left the room. Linda began to sob and cry and she couldn’t stop crying.
I left the room and ran after Evan. He was leaning against the wall with his arm on his forehead. He slowly fell down his knees. He cried. He cried and banged his hands on to the floor screaming ‘why me?! Why! Why she?! Why do I always have to be the one sacrificing? … I shouldn’t have met her…’
‘Tears were shed. People were hurt. Promises were broken. Relations were ruined. Two beautiful lives were crumbled that day.’ The old man’s voice ringed in my ears. I wiped my eyes. Was I crying? Yeah I was.
